Certification workshop
AUGUST 27—The U.S. Small Business Administration will host an 8(a), SDB and HUBZone Certification and Contracting workshop from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Riverside Center for Innovation, 700 River Ave., 1st floor Conference Room, North Side. Selling skills
AUGUST 28—Knowledge Point Academy and Peter Bruening’s Selling Points Group will host Advanced Selling Skills at The Regional Learning Alliance, 850 Cranberry Woods Dr., Cranberry. Presenters will teach participants how to transform customer relationships into sales. Reservations are required. The fee is $150 and there will be no payments taken at the door. AUGUST 28—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series from 12:15-1 p.m. at the Downtown and Business branch, 612 Smithfield St. The topic is “The nowU 529 Pennsylvania Guaranteed Savings Plan: The Tax-Smart Way to Save for College.” Ross C. Godlove, a nowU representative from the PA Treasury Department, will be the presenter. 529 plans are college savings plans offered by states. The event is free and open to the public. SEPT. 2—The YWCA Greater Pittsburgh will host an Enterprising Women Business Training Course from 6-8:30 p.m. at 305 Wood St., Downtown. This is a training program designed for women with low to moderate incomes. The class is 12 weeks and will meet every Tuesday or Thursday beginning the week of Sept. 2. Participants will learn the basics of business structures and strategies; how to set realistic goals; how to develop a business plan; and how to access small loans and more.
