Fitness class

AUGUST 7—Zumba will host a Fitness Class at 9 a.m. at the Dance Café, 50 S. 7th St., South Side. This is a fun fitness class that lets participants dance themselves into a better person. There are classes every Wednesday and Saturday. For more information, visit www.zumba-sb.com.

Dance party

AUGUST 7—The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh will host “Family Night Dance Party” at 1 p.m. at 10 Children’s Way, North Side. There will be a live DJ, music and lighting effects. For more information, call 412-331-2577.

Kids triathlon

AUGUST 9—North Park will host the 3rd annual North Park Kids Triathlon at 7:30 a.m. at North Park, Pearce Mill Rd., Pittsburgh. Kids  up to 12 will have the opportunity to enjoy fun, food, and to help raise money for Habitat for Humanity. There will be a run, a swim and a bike ride. Helmets and bikes are required to participate. All kids will get a medal, the winners will get trophies and there will be a Wii game system given away. The registration fee is $30. Unity meeting

AUGUST 9—Women in Unity will host an Informational Meeting from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Bethel AME Church, 2720 Webster Ave., Hill District. Women In Unity is a women’s business support group for business owners. At the meeting the group will discuss possible topics for future workshops/seminars, the purpose and a newsletter. Community meeting

AUGUST 9—Councilwoman Tonya Payne will host a District 6 Community Meeting from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Duquesne University’s Power Center Ballroom, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. At the meeting she will discuss the plans for a new supermarket that will be built in the Hill District. This event is open to all. Dance party

AUGUST 9—Rhythm of Life Productions will host “Summer Sizzler-Synchronicity: It’s All About the Dancing” from 7 p.m.-1 a.m. at the Absolute Ballroom and Dance Center, 6617 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. There will be soul line dancing Detroit ballroom and hand dancing. DJ Roland will provide the music that is a blend of jazz, old school R&B and contemporary music.  There will be games and prizes. Social outing

AUGUST 9—Gaskins Productions will host Linen at the Le Mont at 11 p.m. at 1114 Grandview Ave., Mt. Washington. This event will feature live jazz, a DJ, a world-class cigar bar and more. There will be valet parking available. Space is limited. Proper ID and upscale attire are required. The cost of admission is $20. Celebration picnic

AUGUST 10—Amachi Pittsburgh Mentoring Program will host their “Hands Across Pittsburgh” Summer Picnic from 1-5 p.m. at the rink in Schenley Park, Oakland. This event is to celebrate five years of mentoring to youths. Through a unique partnership among secular and faith-based organizations, Amachi Pittsburgh works to mentor young minds, ensuring that all children are rightfully recognized as children of promise. All community members are welcome. There will be food, fun and friendship and magicians, jugglers, pottery painting and a live remote broadcast by WAMO. Community day
