Ki Ki is moving on
WAMO on-air announcer Ki Ki Brown has left the WAMO building and is moving on to bigger and better things; and she wanted to give her listeners the real deal to put rumors to rest.

“It was time to take a new course in life and in my career. Life is about special courses that we have to take to teach us how to survive,” said Brown. “Both Sheridan and I know that it was time for me to take a new course. The doors were always open for me to ask any question and I received a lot of support when I had ideas and wanted to venture off into different areas of my career.

“This new course in my life and career involves learning more about me and my capabilities, learning how to deal with difficult people and difficult situations; those are surprises quizzes,” Brown said. “Hopefully, I will graduate and become the next music director and/or program director for a major market station. But I have more to learn.”

Brown’s next move involves continuing her education. “Well, first I want to get my BA in business management at the University of Phoenix. I am going to continue to pay my bills and take care of my son like nothing has changed,” she says. “The only thing that is different is that I will be more available to make appointments for prospective jobs in the city or out-of-state. I do want to stay within the industry and work as a personality or utilize my five-plus years experience in promotions/marketing.”

The former “Midday Chick” has no hard feelings or regrets. “This is the business, man! This is how it is,” she said. “You know, people have to stop thinking so many negative thoughts when it comes to someone’s business failing or marriage failing or when someone loses their job. It happens. Yeah, it hurts a bit, but I’m a spiritual woman and I believe that God closes one door to open another. I know that the decision to release me wasn’t personal.

“After 12 years, there are relationships developed that’s hard to acquire when you start a new career. I have brothers and sisters who have looked out for me and my family, and I did the same for them. That’s something you can never replace. I look at this as a blessing and not a regret.”

Brown has a special message to her listeners. “Thank you, thank you, thank you! Know that it was you who got me through and made me smile everyday.”

You took away my problems and helped me ignore my situations! I will really miss you! Keep me in your prayers and I will keep you in mine. And remember....if you let your fears keep you from flying, you’ll never reach your high.”
