All-City Arts Showcase at MCG
Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild Youth and Arts is hosting the 2008 All-City Arts Showcase, on view at their 1815 Metropolitan St. gallery through May 23.

This annual exhibition highlights the extraordinary creative talents of Pittsburgh Public High School students, and demonstrates the quality and commitment of the schools’ art educators. More than 450 works were submitted to this yearly show and-thanks to the generous support of area educational institutions, arts organizations and merchants—the students’ hard work was recognized with scholarships and awards totaling more than $115,000.

“As the scope of this celebration of the arts has expanded, more and more supporters have taken on greater responsibilities to insure its success,” said curriculum supervisor of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Cornelia Davis. “We at the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education gratefully acknowledge the behind-the-scenes coordination and hard work of many teachers and administrators in every school who help make this happen each year.”

The public is invited to the All City Arts Showcase Reception and Awards Ceremony on May 9, from 5:30-9 p.m. Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild, 1815 Metropolitan St., North Shore to join in the celebration of the creative accomplishments of these young artists. This free evening includes an awards presentation, refreshments and an All-City Show premiere performance by the PPS high school honors choir and jazz ensemble.
