Art for August

Carryin’ On
A three-part exhibition of work, “Carryin’ On” examines gender identity and exploration during the era of family values. Charles “Teenie” Harris shots during the 1930s and ’40s are highlighted. The photographer’s vision of the Black queer experience in Pittsburgh’s Hill District during this period and similar themes are also observed with African photographer Samuel Fosso, and Andy Warhol’s 1975 series, Ladies and Gentleman.
