PITTSBURGH, PA – As the City of Pittsburgh prepares for its annual holiday festivities on Friday, November 18, the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department is preparing for a safe and secure night downtown for residents and visitors alike. Pittsburgh Police will be working with Port Authority Police and Operations, Adult and Juvenile Probations, along with Pittsburgh Public Schools Staff and Police to ensure order is kept throughout downtown before, during and after Light Up Night.

Please note that law enforcement officers will enforce a “zero tolerance” policy regarding any misbehavior by anyone Downtown, which will initiate immediate police action including arrests. If juveniles are arrested their schools will be notified, which could potentially lead to further disciplinary action.

Additional resources for patrol will include the Allegheny County Police, Allegheny County Sheriffs, and the Pennsylvania State Police.

The Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety looks forward to welcoming everyone to a successful family-oriented night Downtown during Light Up Night, and welcomes the opportunity to engage peacefully with the Pittsburgh community during the kickoff of the 2016 holiday season.
