Two local educators of Hill House Passport Charter Academy, Vanessa Boyd and Shelly Nichols, grew tired of watching all the chaos taking place within the community and the world, and decided to do something to increase peace and make a difference literally one-day at a time.
These two women came together to start the Your Village is My Village 365 Day Challenge. A challenge that encourages people of all ages and colors to come together, and make an honest initiative to do something good for someone else, or commit to doing a random act of kindness each day.
“We wanted to bring a little hope and positivity back into the community, with a touch of excitement and sunshine,” co-founder Boyd said. “It’s time that we step up and do something positive for ourselves and positive for our communities. And with the help of social media we hope to push this effort across the nation.”
Boyd and Nichols created and founded Your Village is My Village on Aug. 17.
