Beaver high school senior quarterback Darius Wise may be the WPIAL’s most explosive player since Tony Dorsett! Wise is an NCAA Division I prospect who last year became the first player in Beaver County history to pass and run for more than 1,000 yards in a season. He scored a team-high 29 touchdowns.
Beaver will battle Aliquippa and Beaver Falls for the Class 3A WPIAL championship.
Clairton’s Lamont Wade only needs 1,000 yards to break Tyler Boyd’s school rushing record and Rivals.com ranks the 5-foot-9, 190-pound Wade the nation’s No. 10 player and No. 2 cornerback and Scout.com ranks him 17th nationally and the No. 3 cornerback.
Wade, like Darrelle Revis, Jordan Whitehead and Paris Ford, is a great offensive player but prefers to play defensive back in college. “I just like the fact that cornerbacks have to be one of the most athletic players on the field,” Wade said. “You have to have a certain skill set to cover the receivers. I really take pride in that.”
