Day of Unity
JUNE 14—Seshemet Community Council and Sankofa United will host A Day of Unity in the Community from 1-6:30 p.m. at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum, 7310 Frankstown Ave., Homewood. Guest speaker Dr. Umar Johnson, educator, psychologist and Pan Africanist, will speak on the topic “The Academic War Against Black Boys.” There will be a Q & A session following the lecture. JUNE 14—The McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center will host its 2014 Summer Program Series at the Heritage Center, 1832 Arboretum Dr., McKeesport. The series will begin with a Rack-O Tournament. Rack-O is a card games developed by McKeesport native Frank Whitehead. This is free and open to the public, and for ages 10-110. Kidney Health Check
JUNE 28—The National Kidney Foundation will host a Kidney Health Check from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Kingsley Association, 6435 Frankstown Ave., East Liberty. The event will feature a kidney health survey, body mass index, blood pressure measurements, an individual consultation with a kidney doctor and a wealth of resources. DHS SummerFood Program
