Employment Fair
JUNE 5—Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center will host a Job Fair from 4-6 p.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 250 N. Highland Ave., East Liberty. There will be early access for veterans, foster care youth and individuals with criminal background issues. There will be more than 80 employers on hand. Leadership Conference
JUNE 5—The Northside Leadership Conference will host  “Northside Story Continued!” the 31st Annual Scholarship and Awards Dinner from 6-9 p.m. at Northside Institutional COGIC CNBE Center, 302 W. North Ave., North Side. The event honors 17 scholarship recipients, 15 Neighborhood Awardees, a Service Provider and six Lifetime Achievement Winners. Reservations are required by June 2. SisStars Gather
JUNE 6—SisStars Gather will host its Empowerment Weekend at the Nuin Center, 5655 Bryant St., East Liberty. The theme is “We Are Our SisStars’ Keepers: Connecting Circles of Women.” This event is for women of all ages and backgrounds, and is an opportunity to gather and unite to inspire, share, strengthen and nurture each other to become the change they want to be. Health & Job Fair
JUNE 7—The Pittsburgh NAACP will host its 2014 Health & Job Fair from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Petra International Ministries, 235 Eastgate Dr., East Hills. The NAACP is taking effective action to address the health and employment issues of the community. For more information, call 412-471-1024.

WAMO Days
JUNE 7—WAMO 100.1 FM will host its WAMO100 Community Day from 12-6 p.m. at Stage AE, 400 N. Shore Dr., North Shore. This celebration encompasses the WAMO legacy of music, fun and family. 20th Anniversary Celebration
JUNE 7—Community Empowerment Association will host its 20th Anniversary Celebration Dinner from 5-8 p.m. at its Arts, Culture and Training Institute, 7120 Kelly St., Homewood. This is a celebration to mark 20 years of service to children, families and the African-American Community. There will be a silent auction, live band, a film, the awarding of 20 Community Builder awards and more. Registration is required. Workshop Application Deadline
JUNE 9—Applications for the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation’s 31st Annual Frank Bolden Workshop must be submitted by this date. The workshop will run Aug. 2-9 at Point Park University, 201 Wood St., Downtown. This workshop for teens will provide experience as well as an in depth look into print, broadcast and photo journalism. It is free and housing on campus will be provided. Birthday Celebration
JUNE 12—Gwen’s Girls will host a Gwen Elliot Birthday Celebration from 6-8 p.m. at Gwen’s Girls, 711 West Commons, North Side. This is a community wide event celebrating what would be the 70th birthday of the late Gwen Elliot. This event will allow those who knew Elliot, and who have benefited from her compassion and generosity, an opportunity to gather and share memories. Registration is required.
