justin-lordePop singer Jason Derulo made an appearance on “Good Morning America” today. He was there to promote his brand new album “Talk Dirty” and he also helped announce the finalists for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards.

The pop and rock artists lead the list of finalists. Breakout rock band Imagine Dragons and pop starlet Lorde each are finalists in twelve out of the forty categories. Justin Timberlake trails those two artists by one and pop rappers Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were named in eight categories. Pop singer Katy Perry enjoyed a successful year because her latest album “Prism” has her named in 10 different categories.

Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams weren’t left out. Their summer smash “Blurred Lines” got them mentioned in five categories. While Justin Timberlake is a finalist in some pop categories, he is also a staple in the R&B ones. His album “The 20/20 Experience” was named a finalist in the category of Top R&B Album. The funny thing about Justin Timberlake and the Top R&B Album race is that the first part of “The 20/20 Experience” featuring “Suit & Tie” is nominated against “The 20/20 Experience (2 of 2) that featured the song “Take Back The Night.”

It should also be noted that Rihanna, who is a finalist in five categories, has been a Billboard Award finalist 49 times.

Who will go home with the Bilboard Music Award? Find out when the Billboard Awards air live from Las Vegas on May 18th at 8pm on ABC.
