Porter Prize Ceremony
APRIL 8—The University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and the United Way of Allegheny County will host the honoring of 2014 Porter Prize recipient Michael Moss at 1 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh William Pitt Student Union, Assembly Room, Forbes Avenue, Oakland. Moss is an investigative reporter for The New York Times, a Pulitzer Prize winner and author of  “Salt Sugar Fat.” The Porter Prize is awarded in recognition of an exceptional performance in health performance in health promotion and disease prevention. There will also be a panel discussion on the topic “Healthy Lifestyle Choices: Combating Obesity,” to be moderated by Patricia Siger at 3 p.m. For more information, email ruempler@pitt.edu.

General Meeting
APRIL 8—The Pittsburgh Unit of the NAACP will host its Executive/General Meeting at 7 p.m. at Freedom Unlimited, 2201 Wylie Ave., Hill District. All members are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 412-471-1024.

Forever Family Run/Walk
APRIL 12—Adoption Connection, PA will host its Forever Family 5K Run and Fun Walk at 9 a.m. at Irvine Park, Beaver, Pa. This event is a celebration of adoption and foster care, and is for everyone from the serious runners to those looking to enjoy their families and spend time together.

Irene’s Dream Luncheon/Boutique
APRIL 12—The Bartko Foundation will host its 8th annual Irene’s Dream Luncheon & Boutique from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel, 510 Market St., Downtown. Be Inspired
APRIL 30—Bethlehem Haven will host An Evening with Elizabeth Smart: Be Inspired! at 6:30 p.m. at the IBEW Circuit Center, 5 Hot Metal St., South Side. There will be dinner, a program and a VIP reception. All proceeds benefit the work of Bethlehem Haven. Perry High School Reunion

Scholarship
ONGOING—The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Girl Friends Inc. is accepting applications for its 2014 Scholarship. Girl Friends Inc. is a national civic and social organization. Water Polo
ONGOING—The Thelma Lovette YMCA will host Water Polo at 12 p.m. at 2114 Centre Ave., Hill District. Every Saturday in January, February and March the YMCA will offer water polo for middle school aged children.
