PowerBreakfast
MARCH 21—The African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its monthly PowerBreakfast series at 7:30 a.m. at the Rivers Club, One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., Downtown. This month’s guest will be Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto. He will discuss his vision and plans for the city. Registration is required by March 19. MARCH 27—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host its Business Series from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at the Downtown & Business location, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. The topic is “Last Minute Tax Filing Tips.” Tax Consultant Diana Smith will provide advice and guidance for last-minute filers. The event is free. Finding & Keeping Customers
APRIL 3—The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center will host a Finding & Keeping Customers seminar from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown.  This seminar will give step-by-step, practical guidelines on how to set goals for acquiring new customers, develop strategies for achieving those goals, make cold calls fun and effective, and more. Business Planning Seminar
APRIL 9—The University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence will host Innovation and Planning Throughout the Chapters/Generations of Your Business from 7:30-10:30 a.m. at the Duquesne Club, 325 6th Ave., Downtown. This program will teach participants how to effectively create a solid plan for the future, while keeping focus on current opportunities. The discussion will be led by Sheetz President and CEO Joe Sheetz and Ann Dugan, founder of the Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Registration is required.
