Beauty and Wellness Clinic
FEB. 7—A Hair Boutique will host a Beauty and Wellness Clinic from 7-9 p.m. at A Hair Boutique, 5510 Centre Ave., Shadyside. The event is designed to bring awareness to cardiovascular disease. The event will include an interactive wig and make-up session, along with presentations on how to “Go from Drab to Fab in 5 minutes” and tips on preventing heart disease. A portion of the proceeds will go to the American Heart Association. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required by Feb. 3 and space is limited. A Walk For Education
FEB. 8—The University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University’s National Society of Black Engineer Chapters will host the “A Walk For Education” Science Technology Engineering and Math Fair at 9:30 a.m. at the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering, 3700 O’Hara St., Oakland. The day will give high school students an introduction to educational opportunities and careers in the STEM field. They will meet with current students, professionals and more. There will be a keynote speech by Sossena Wood, national chairperson, National Society of Black Engineers, as well as a parent workshop. Registration is requested.
