First Step Seminar

DEC. 3—The Duquesne University Small Business Development Center will host the “First Step: Business Start-Up Essentials” from 1:30-4:30 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. The seminar will cover topics such as business structure and formation, employee issues, fictitious name registration and more. Annual Business Lunch

DEC. 4— The African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its Annual Business Meeting at 12 p.m. at the Omni William Penn, 530 William Penn Place, Downtown. You Can Get There

DEC. 7—O’Friel Consulting will host “You Can Get There From Here!” from 2:30-4 p.m. at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Downtown and Business, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. Robert O’Friel will help attendees begin to plan for 2014 as though they were planning a vacation. Individuals can start planning now so that they can enjoy the holidays knowing that they will hit the road running to begin the New Year. Registration is required. DEC. 13—The Chatham University Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship will host its Women Business Leaders Breakfast Series from 7:30-9 a.m. at Chatham University, James Laughlin Music Hall, Woodland Rd., Oakland. Latasha Wilson-Batch, executive director of the Best of the Batch Foundation, will speak on the topic “Best of the Batch: Bridging Business and Service with a Hands-on Approach.” Breakfast will be served. Holiday Networking Mixer

DEC. 13—Classic Events! will host its Holiday Business Networking Mixer at 6 p.m. at Hosanna House, 807 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg. This is a community-based vendor marketplace/fashion show event that will give entrepreneurs and business owners the opportunity to promote their products while featuring the creations of area fashion designers and stylists.
