Senior Fair

SEPT. 11—State Rep. Ed Gainey will host a free Senior Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the YMCA Homewood, 7140 Bennett St., Homewood. Local, state and federal agencies will be on hand to provide information on various programs, along with local providers to discuss health care, housing and financial services. Infinite Scholars Program

SEPT. 12—The Infinite Scholars Program Inc. will host its Infinite Scholarship Fair 2013 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Pittsburgh Barack Obama Academy, 515 N. Highland Ave., East Liberty. The fair will offer low-income parents and students the opportunity to get information about scholarships to local and out of state universities. Registration is required. Health and Wellness Weekend

SEPT. 13—State Rep. Jake Wheatley Jr. will host an Inaugural Health and Wellness Weekend. There will be a free family day at the Thelma Lovette YMCA. Also on Sept. 14 there will be an UPHill 5K from 9-11:30 a.m. and a Community Appreciation Day from 11:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at Kennard Field, with a job fair, step exhibition, live entertainment, line dancing, food and more. And on Sept. 15, from 1-5 p.m., there will be an H.E.A.L. event at the Thelma Lovette YMCA, with health screenings, cooking demonstrations, health jeopardy and more. Marriage Retreat

SEPT. 14—Traveling Diva’s and Gent’s will host its God & Marriage Retreat & Seminar at Cove Haven Paradise Stream Pocono Place. The theme is “Exercising the Gifts of Love.” The all-inclusive three-day event will include breakfast and dinner, live nightly entertainment, recreational facilities and activities, and more. Community Health Fair

SEPT. 14—The Manchester Youth Development Center will host its 3rd Annual Community Health Fair from 12-4 p.m. at the MYDC Gym, 1214 Liverpool St., Manchester. There will be free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, helpful exercise techniques, children’s activities, youth haircuts, community information and more. Memorial Dedication

SEPT. 15—The Tuskegee Airmen Memorial of the Greater Pittsburgh Region Inc. will host a Memorial Dedication to the Tuskegee Airmen at 2 p.m. at Sewickley Cemetery, 501 Hopkins St., Sewickley. This will be a dedication of the largest Tuskegee Airmen memorial. There will be music, recognition of approximately 100 Western Pennsylvania Tuskegee Airmen and free remote parking with a shuttle. In case of inclement weather, the dedication will be moved to the United Methodist Church of Sewickley. Senior Prom

SEPT. 20—The North Hills Ebony Women Inc. and Allen Place Community Services Inc. will host its Pittsburgh Senior Prom from 5-10 a.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton, 500 Mansfield Ave., Greentree. The theme is “Building Community Partnerships for Health Equity” This will be a night of health education, food, dancing, fun and more. Every Child Gala

SEPT. 20—Every Child Inc. will host its annual Challenge the Champions Gala at 6:30 p.m. at the Rivers Casino Grand Ballroom, 777 Casino Dr., North Shore. This event will celebrate those who champion for children and who spread awareness about the need for all children to have a permanent, safe home. Vince Sims, of WPXI, will be the emcee. Power of Laughter

SEPT. 21—The American Heart Association will host the 2013 Power of Laughter Health Workshop and Comedy Luncheon from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh Downtown Hotel, 600 Commonwealth Place, Downtown. The theme is “Sending Out an S.O.S: Saving Our Selves with the healing power of laughter.” The featured presenter will be Dr. Jackson T. Wright Jr. and Alex Ortiz will be the featured comedian. Famers’ Market

ONGOING—The Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation will host the Wilkinsburg Farmers’ Market from 3-6 p.m. at the Parking Lot, between 732 and 744 Ross Ave., Wilkinsburg. The market will be held every Thursday through Nov. 21.
