The Kelly Strayhorn presents Fresh Works at 8 p.m. at the Alloy Studios, 5530 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is a program for Pittsburgh-based artists, arts administrators and audiences who want to make connections between dance and the rest of the world. Each month a choreographer is selected to present a performance of their work. This month’s performers are Jasmine Hearn and Alisha B. Wormsley. The cost is $10. Elizabeth Catlett
The August Wilson Center for African American Culture presents The Art of Elizabeth Catlett Exhibition from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at 980 Liberty Ave., Cultural District. The exhibit displays approximately 40 sculptures, serigraphs, linocuts, woodcuts and painting from Samella Lewis’ collection of works from this renowned African American artist. It is also includes works from Lewis and Francisco Mora. The exhibit, which explores the nature of Catlett’s art and ability to affect both individual lives and political movements, will run through Sept. 13. For more information, call 412-258-2700.
