Open House/fall registration
AUG. 28 —The Harty Bible School and Christian Tabernacle Kodesh Church, 2601 Centre Ave., Hill District, will host an Open House and Fall Registration for the 2013-2014 School Year from 5-8 p.m. Prospective students can learn more about the school, other Harty Bible School locations, the interactive curriculum and meet with staff. Circle of Courage Awards
AUG. 30 —BCC Ministries will host the 2013 Pittsburgh Circle of Courage Awards at 7:15 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 101 Mall Blvd., Monroeville. The award is designed to be a source of encouragement to individuals who have displayed outstanding faith and courage in their careers, ministries and other aspects of life. Fellowship extravaganza
AUG. 31 —Bethel AME Church, 2720 Webster Ave., Hill District, will host the Heaven and Hell Fellowship Extravaganza at 3 p.m. There will be praise, fellowship, fun, food and more. For more information, call 412-683-2160.
Revival
SEPT. 4 —Mt. Horran Baptist Church, 2616 Brereton Ave., Hill District, will host its Revival at 7 p.m. The theme is “Revive Us Again.” This three-night revival, which will run through Sept. 6, will include Minister James E. Gorman Jr., Rev. Vernon Taylor and Rev. Gerald H. Smith Jr. All are welcome. For more information, call 412-261-1131.
Human Rights Celebration
SEPT. 7 —Church Women United-Pittsburgh Unit will host the 2013 Human Rights Celebration at 9:30 a.m. at Sixth Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 6556 Shetland St., East Liberty. The theme is “Breaking Down the Doors of Injustice.” The morning will include guest speaker Lois “Toni” McClendon, of the Coalition Against Violence. There will also be recognition of individuals who have been working in the field of human rights in the community. Tim Stevens, chairman of the Black Political Empowerment Project, will be the 2013 awardee. Lunch will be served following the celebration service. For more information, call 412-441-7839.
Pastoral anniversary
SEPT. 8 —Mulberry Community Church, 601 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg, will host its 13th Pastoral Anniversary Celebration of Rev. Kevin Cooper Sr. at 11 a.m. This will be a celebration of his tireless leadership in the community. For more information, call 412-728-1710.
Financial Peace University
SEPT. 12 —Macedonia Baptist Church, 2225 Bedford Ave., Hill District, will host a Financial Peace University Free Preview at 7 p.m. This nine-week course presents biblical, practical steps to get from where one is to where they want to be. 2013 Prayer Summit
