For four years one of the highlights of summer is the Annual Wine and Cheese Soiree held on beautiful Grandview Avenue to benefit the Thelma Lovette YMCA. This beautiful evening was hosted by Anna Singer and Don Kortlandt on June 28, at their beautiful Mt. Washington home and was a great way to begin the weekend.

Guests enjoyed music makers Leonard Johnson on piano and Charles “Tubby” Daniels on the xylophone, and crab cakes to die for from the Wooden Nickel. After a brief rain, the sun came out allowing supporters to take in the views from one of three decks. The silent auction tickets were a hot item due to the exciting auction packages generously donated by supporters. The Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders.

The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh invested $12 million in the Thelma Lovette Y. Community supporters include the BNY Mellon Foundation of Southwestern Pennsylvania, First Niagara, The Heinz Endowments, Highmark, McAuley Ministries, the Richard King Mellon Foundation, the Pennsylvania State Department of Community and Economic Development and the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, the PNC Foundation, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, Tree Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.
