Business Women Reception/Awards ­Ceremony
MARCH 14—The Pittsburgh Business Times will host “Business Women First, Women’s Leadership Reception” from 4-8 p.m. at the Omni William Penn Hotel, 530 William Penn Place, Downtown. This will be an evening of honoring top women executives in Pittsburgh. The reception will run from 4-6 p.m., followed by the 2013 Business Women First Awards dinner and ceremony. PowerBreakfast Meeting
MARCH 15—The African-American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its PowerBreakfast Meeting at 7:30 a.m. at the Rivers Club, One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant St., Downtown. The guest speaker Robert Rubinstein, acting executive director of the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, will update guests on the city’s current economic development priorities. QuickBooks Made Easy
MARCH 19—The Small Business Development Center of Saint Vincent College and Dennis Piper & Associates will host “QuickBooks Made Easy” from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at St. Vincent College, 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe. This is for individuals and businesses that have recently purchased the QuickBooks software and would like to become more efficient. The seminar will provide resource materials. One-Day Marketing Place
MARCH 21—Duquesne University’s Small Business Development Center will host the “One-Day Marketing Place” seminar from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Duquesne University, Rockwell Hall, 600 Forbes Ave., Uptown. Marketing guru and former professor Dan Droz will help attendees learn how to differentiate their business from their competitors, along with helping them to apply it to their business. He will enable them to tailor essential marketing principles to recharge their marketing and to reach their goals. Registration is required and the cost is $195. Let’s Get it Started
MARCH 22—The Greater Pittsburgh National Association of Women Business Owners will host “Think GINORMOUS-Let’s Get it Started” from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel in Greentree, 500 Mansfield Ave., Greentree. This seminar will feature national and local speakers to inspire attendees and show them the best branding ideas. The featured speaker will be Susan Newman, founder of Broadcast-Louder. ABC’s of Selling Online
MARCH 26—The University of Pittsburgh’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence and the African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host “The ABC’s of Selling Online” from 9-11 a.m. at the Kingsley Association, 6435 Frankstown Ave., East Liberty. Robert Stein, director of technology for the Institute, will facilitate this workshop geared toward business owners and individuals who want to learn practical information on entering the world of e-commerce. Topics will include Determining What Kind of Business to Start, Tools for Building a Website, Optimizing Your Website on a Search Engines and more. Registration is required. Members’ Mixer
MARCH 27—The African American Chamber of Commerce of Western Pennsylvania will host its Members’ Mixer from 5-7 p.m. at Dollar Bank, 340 Fourth Ave., Downtown. Attendees will have the opportunity to view the restoration of Dollar Bank’s historic lions and the banking floor. Members are asked to bring business cards to meet and greet with fellow Chamber members. This is an event for members and non-members. Registration is required by March 22.
