Davis said Pittsburgh Musical Theater’s rendition of the beloved musical will leave audiences happy and singing.
“The audience will walk away from this production of ‘The Sound of Music’  with a different perspective than what they got from the movie because we’ve added our own character and personalities to the roles, the music and every line of the show,” said Davis who said she drew inspiration for her role as a nun from Julie Andrews’ character. “I didn’t have much experience with nuns, but I learned from working with PMT that you have to have your own personality. I’m taking most of my direction from Colleen Petrucci who is telling us what to do and taking the nuns in the right direction. Back in World War II, the nuns were truly dedicated. They never looked in the mirror and they never went outside of their convent. The nuns of today are more free.”
“The Sound of Music” will run at the Byham Theater through Feb. 3. Tickets begin at $12 and are available by calling 412-456-6666. Groups of 10 or more should call 412-471-6930. For more information visit http://www.pittsburghmusicals.com.
