REV. ANDREW JACKSON

Unity Baptist Church of Braddock entered a new era in ministry by officially entering a new facility Dec. 30. The new facility, which is the former Emmanuel Lutheran Church, provided the congregation with a renovated sanctuary with handicapped accessible restroom facilities, along with educational and administrative space.
To mark this event, the membership traveled from its old building where they had worshipped for the past 10 years to the new facility located at 420 Fifth Street. Prayer and a ribbon cutting ceremony were held at the front door and the membership entered the sanctuary for worship at 10:30 a.m. The processional was led by Pastor Richard Wingfield, First Lady Vanessa and Deacon Luther Dupree, who at age 102 is the oldest living member of the congregation. The worship service of celebration was followed by an Open House.
Unity Baptist Church of Braddock is a merger of two congregations, Bethel Baptist and Willow Way Baptist, and is a family of families united in their faith for the purpose of evangelizing the sinner, edifying the saint and exalting the Savior. This year will mark the church’s tenth year anniversary.
