Homecoming 2012

AUG. 31—Cathedral of Praise Church of God, 7146 Idlewild St., Homewood, will host its Homecoming 2012 from 1-9 p.m. The theme is “For Such a Time as This.” The two-day event will include a youth summit, workshops and guest speakers Pastor Carolyn Ellis, Pastor Arlene Bates and Bishop Loran Mann. Summer Flea Market

SEPT. 1—Petra International Ministries, 235 Eastgate Dr., Penn Hills, will host its Summer Flea Market from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $25 per space and the proceeds benefit the Abundant Beginnings childcare and learning center, which cares for at risk children and their families. Circle of Courage

Marriage Workshop

SEPT. 7—St. James AME Church, 444 Lincoln Ave., East Liberty, will host the “Teach Me How to Love You-Redefining Intimacy” Marriage Workshop at 7 p.m. This two-day workshop will include a panel discussion and several workshops. Back to School Revival

SEPT. 7—The SWAT Department of Rapha Ministries of the Apostolic Faith, 6942 Upland St., Homewood, will host “With God’s Help I Can Do This…” Back to School Revival at 7:30 p.m. The guest speaker for the event will be Minister Kiara Moore. On Sept. 8 from 12-8 p.m. the revival will continue with activities, games and music by Slick Rick. There will be school supplies given out. Biblical Breakfast Series

SEPT. 8—Trinity AME Church, 2700 Wylie Ave., Hill District, will host their 2012 Summer Biblical Breakfast Series from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The theme is “Love.” Every second Saturday of the month a guest preacher will bring a Word based on the theme. This is the last installment of the series and this month’s guest preacher is Rev. Glenn Grayson and he will preach on the topic “Love thy Neighbor as thy self.” Registration is requested. Pittsburgh annual

conference

SEPT. 12—The Pittsburgh Annual Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church Third District will host its 145th Session at Bethel AME Church, 2720 Webster Ave., Hill District. The conference, which will run through Sept. 16, will include business sessions, along with several nights of praise and worship. For more information, call 412-683-2160.

Women’s Conference

SEPT. 15—Unity Baptist Church, 1023 Talbot Ave., Braddock, will host the 2012 Women’s Conference. The theme is “Let the Lioness In You Arise.” Elder Lida Hunt will be the workshop facilitator and Rev. Helen Jackson will be guest preacher along with psalmist Avery Lawrence. Registration is requested and there is no cost.
