AUG. 31—The Squirrel Hill Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host Resume and Cover Letter Assistance from 2-4 p.m. at 5801 Forbes Ave., Squirrel Hill. Every Friday in August, Shirley Tucker, PhD, an employment counselor, will offer assistance with resumes and cover letter during one-on-one 45-minute sessions. Appointments are appreciated. SEPT. 4—Bradley E. Dishart and John C. Mackie of Hefron-Tillotson will host its “First Tuesday Retirement Review: Retirement: Organize It, Plan It, Do It” from 5-6 p.m. at Hefron-Tillotson, 4001 Stonewood Dr., Wexford. This is a free learning seminar that will educate one on how and when to start the retirement process by covering key processes, paperwork and deadlines that are critical when planning for retirement. SEPT. 6—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh will host their Business Program Series at 12:15 p.m. at the Downtown & Business branch, 612 Smithfield St., Downtown. The topic is “Are You ‘Wired’ For Success.” Barbara Schwarck, executive coach and CEO of Clear Intentions International. She will demonstrate her Neuro Emotional Coaching Technique and reveal that success is not only a function of the conscious mind, but many biochemical processes. Employee Handbook Writing
SEPT. 11—Dawn Pomaybo will host “How to Write an Employee Handbook” from 7:30-10 a.m. at Panera Café, 942 Freeport Rd., Fox Chapel. Pomaybo, of Pomaybo Inc., will facilitate this workshop geared towards employers on how to write a handbook that will lead to a clear understanding of the expectations of the employer and the rights of the employee. SEPT. 14—Chatham University Center for Women Excellence will host its Women Business Leaders Breakfast Series from 7:30-9 a.m. at the James Laughlin Music Hall, Woodland Rd., Shadyside. Susan Catalano, of Cognition Therapeutics Inc., will speak on the topic “Finding and Funding a Cure for Alzheimer’s: How One Woman Scientist Became an Entrepreneur.” She will discuss her journey from scientist to entrepreneur and outline some of the cutting edge science being done by Cognition Therapeutics in Pittsburgh.
