Dance World Congress 2012

Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago and Point Park University present the 17th Jazz Dance World Congress 2012 at Point Park University, 201 Wood St., Downtown. There will be daily classes, a special KIDS Jazz Dance program for ages 9-12, the Jazz Dance World Festival and pre-performances of the International Choreography Competition. Art in the Park

The Borough of Wilkinsburg and the Wilkinsburg Community Development Corporation presents Wilkinsburg’s 2012 Art in the Park from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Penn Avenue Parklet, 743 Penn Ave., Wilkinsburg, Every Thursday there will be food, music vendors and fun for the whole family. There will also be live entertainment.

Jazz Jam

CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. No Child

The Kelly Strayhorn Theater presents “No Child” at 11 a.m. at 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This is a one-woman play by Reenah Golden and set in a Bronx high school that traces the efforts of a young teacher to engage a class of uninspired and underachieving youth by challenging them to put on a play. It celebrates the difference one person and a class can make in a troubled place. There will be performances at 7 p.m. and Aug. 4 at 11 a.m. For more information, call 412-363-3000.
