Rev. Wilson goes back home to New Bethel

New Bethel Baptist Church celebrated the Installation Service for Rev. Johnathan M. Wilson on March 4. Reverend Wilson will serve as the Pastor to New Bethel Baptist Church. He’s a native of Pittsburgh and is the youngest of six children.

Reverend Wilson received his calling into the ministry at the age of 18. On Feb. 21, 1996 he received his licenses and on Feb. 22, 2009 was ordained, both under the pastorate of Rev. Le Roy Walker and the New Bethel Baptist Church of Pittsburgh. Reverend Wilson graduated from the Center for Urban Biblical Ministries with his associate degree in Christian Ministries. He attended and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Community Ministry from Geneva College, he now attends the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary to receive his Master’s of Divinity degree. Because of Rev. Wilson’s musical gifts, he’s been privileged to serve in many churches as their Minister of Music.

He served as the executive minister at new Bethel Baptist Church until he received his calling to Second Baptist Church in Rochester, Pa. On July 1, 2009 he became their new pastor. He began his duties as the Pastor-Elect at Second Baptist Church on Aug. 2, 2009. He remained the pastor of Second Baptist until Jan. 1. During his time there, he successfully organized the church’s mission and fiscal structures, helped the development of the outreach ministries and successfully grew the membership. On Jan. 8. ,Rev. Wilson embraced the call of God to come back to his home, New Bethel Baptist Church, and pastor the church where he was raised.
