Delta’s present Women of Many Hats

Today’s women are wearers of many hats, literally and figuratively. The woman of 2012 can be a mom, teacher, doctor, lawyer, sister, aunt, CEO and entrepreneur. On Jan. 21, at the Rivers Club, nearly 300 women braved dicey driving conditions to attend the annual Delta Sigma Theta Card Party and Luncheon.

This year, the luncheon committee let fashion go to their heads and presented a fabulous hat fashion show. The attendees were also invited to wear their favorite hat. The room was filled with beautiful ladies in even more beautiful hats. The hats that were modeled throughout the ballroom actually belonged to the members of Delta Sigma Theta, so they were not for sale, only to be admired.

After the hat show and lunch it was time for cards and bingo. Carolyn Peterson served as a feisty bingo caller and kept the crowd laughing. Many laughed so hard that they called bingo without having the right numbers on their card, they were quickly reprimanded by Peterson, and it was all in fun.

Event chairs, Rhonda Carson Leech and Rochelle Chatman, did a great job along with their luncheon committee: Imogene Hines, Maxine Mosley, Curtistine Walker, Carolyn Peterson, Gerry Abrams, Anita Walker and Beverly Reynolds.
