Pre-holiday Celebration

DEC. 21—Ebenezer Baptist Church, 2001 Wylie Ave., Hill District, will host a Pre-Holiday Celebration at 7 p.m. The congregations of Ebenezer and Bethel AME Church will join together for their annual Christmas celebration. Cantata

DEC. 23–The Fine Arts Department of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 271 Paulson Ave., East Liberty, will host a Cantata titled “Jesus the Messiah: The Greatest Story Ever Told” at 7 p.m. The concert will illustrate the story of the Birth, the Life, and the Resurrection of Christ through song and dance. DEC. 23—The Shona Sharif African Dance and Drum Ensemble will host “The Nativity: A Christmas Gift!” at 8 p.m. at the University of Pittsburgh’s Alumni Hall, Fifth Ave., Oakland. Watch Night Service

DEC. 31—Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 271 Paulson Ave., East Liberty, will host its Watch Night Service at 8 p.m. at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Blvd., Monroeville. The theme is “Reclaiming the Community, Equipping the Family.” The Word will be preached by pastor Rev. Dr. William H. Curtis and the Majestic Praise Mass Choir and the Mt. Ararat Dance Ensemble (MADE) will be performing live. This will be an exciting way to close out 2011 and usher in 2012. There will also be a 10:30 p.m. worship service and on Jan. 1 a live performance by comedian and actor Jonathan Slocumb at the church.
