First Ladies appreciated

For decades The Pittsburgh Club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs Inc. hosted the Ebony Fashion Fair. It was something to look forward to every October. After 50 wonderful years the Ebony Fashion Fair was canceled, but NANBPW is still in the fashion game.

On Oct. 22 they held their inaugural “First Ladies Appreciation Luncheon” at the Churchill Valley Country Club. The afternoon included a Sunday Best fashion show, featuring fashionistas Peggy Harris and Gwen Reed modeling ensembles from their own wardrobe. In between fashion scenes, club members showcased custom designed hats and wraps from Terri’s Celestial Place.

FirstLadies
FIRST LADIES—Annette Scott Piper, Carolyn Davis, Marsha Grayson, Vickey Grigsby.

The honorees were: Lady Carolyn Davis, South Hills Baptist Church; Lady Marsha Grayson, Wesley Center AMEZ Church; Lady Vickey Grigsby, Central Baptist Church; and Lady Annette Scott Piper, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

The presentations were made my NANBPW club members, Curtistine Walker, Rhonda Carson Leach, Barbara Buice and Jovita Williams. Not only did the crowd enjoy the fashions, but they were also able to shop and network at the vendor’s marketplace. Daysiah Foy (2011 Miss Ebony Teenage) and Katherine Logan (2010 Miss Princess) served as hostesses. The luncheon committee was chaired by Jacqueline E. Collier and Valerie Waters.

The members of NANBPW are progressive, innovative and dynamic women who continue to uphold the tenets of its founders and promote the highest standards of business and professional acumen.
