The Pgh. Black Media Federation 28th Annual Robert L. Vann awards honored 30 winners at a reception May 19. The Community Service Award went to Larry Glasco, a University of Pittsburgh History professor, and Sylvester Pace, CEO of NEED. The Journalism Legacy Award honored Tene Croom, national radio journalist, and George E. Barbour, groundbreaking print, radio reporter. The Communicator of the Year was Donna Baxter, founder, the Soul Pitt. The New Pittsburgh Courier received three awards: Rebecca Nuttall, third, News Feature; Christian Morrow, second, Spot News; and Debbie Norrell, second, Newspaper Editorial/Commentary.
