JUNE 6—The Alzheimer Disease Research Center, the Alzheimer Outreach Center and The University of Pittsburgh will host the Walter Allen Memorial Seminar Series at 2 p.m. at the Hill House Kaufmann Center, Conference Room A, 1835 Centre Ave., Hill District. JUNE 11—Kappa Scholarship Endowment Fund of Western Pennsylvania will host their 21at Annual High School Scholarship Awards Luncheon at 11 a.m. at Churchill Valley Country Club, 800 Beulah Rd., Churchill. David Allen of Allstate Insurance Company will be the guest speaker and jazz music will be presented by Wayne and Friends. The organization will give away several scholarships. JUNE 11—The Aurora Reading Club of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Homewood Branch will host a Book Presentation and Reception from 2-3 p.m. at 7101 Hamilton Ave., Homewood. Two of the African-American reading club members and authors, Vivian Ann Davidson Hewitt and Beatrice Vasser, PhD., will present signed copies of the books they have written to the library for its collection. Summer Food Program
JUNE 13—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services will host the SummerFood Program. This is a free breakfast, lunch and recreation program for youths and children 18 and under in economically disadvantaged communities. JUNE 22—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services and Juvenile Justice will host a Public Discussion at 5 p.m. at DHS building, Liberty Conference Room Lower Level, One Smithfield St., Downtown. The discussion is to hear recommendations from County residents about how to coordinate services for children and youth in Allegheny County.
