Night chaser

DEC. 10—Brown Chapel AME Church, 1400 Boyle St., North Side, will host a production of “The Night Chaser” at 7:30 p.m. at the New Hazlett Theater, 6 Allegheny Square, North Side. This is a Christmas production for the whole family and includes acting, music, mime, dance and African drumming. The story is about a family who receives a video game as a gift and gets drawn into an adventure that requires them to show courage and responsibility. This is for all ages. Tickets are $5-$10. Women’s conference

DEC. 11—HeavenGates Ministries will host “An Open Door” Women’s Conference from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church, 6111 Rodman St., East Liberty. This event is to minister, empower and uplift women of all ages. There will be several dynamic workshops and health information available. Fashion show

DEC. 11—The Christian Council of Pentecostal Temple COGIC, 6300 East Liberty Blvd., East Liberty, will host their 2010 “Walk in the Light” Fashion Show and Brunch at 10 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh University Center, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. Gospel celebration

DEC. 11—The Beaver Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America will host an Honoring of Pittsburgh’s Gospel’s Legends at 4 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 2629 Wylie Ave., Hill District. This year’s honorees are Earl Brundage, Theodora Cotton, John Flowers, Robert Henderson, Essie Hill, Menther Martin, Anna Murrell, Valetta O’Kelly, Cliff Roberts, Milton Austin and Dorothy Walden. Pastoral anniversary

DEC. 12—Corinthian Baptist Church, 2037 Forbes Ave., Uptown, will host a Pastoral Anniversary/Birthday Celebration at 10:30 a.m. This is a celebration of the 32nd Pastoral Anniversary of Rev. Christopher Glover. He will also be celebrating his 65th birthday. The theme is “Jesus is the Center of My Joy.” The morning worship service will feature guest preacher Rev. Nativity

ONGOING—The Multicultural Arts Initiative will host “Nativity: A Christmas Gift” at 8 p.m. at Alumni Hall, 4227 Fifth Ave., Oakland. This production tells the story of the birth of Jesus through gospel, hymnal music and traditional West African dance. The show will feature the Shona Sharif African Dance and Drum Ensemble.
