From Kongo to Brazil

The Kelly Strayhorn Theater presents “From Kongo to Brazil” at 8 p.m. at 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. The show features the Nego Gato Afro Brazilia, Music and Dance Ensemble with special guest Titos Sompa from Kongo, Brazzaville. This is a celebration of Gato’s 25 years in America. The show gives an experience of the living history of Africans brought to Brazil during the period of slave trade through music and dance. Tickets are from $20-$10. AVA Lounge presents Live Jazz with The Interval Trio & Friends at 8:30 p.m. at 126 S. Highland Ave., East Liberty. Every Monday DJ J. Community concert

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra presents its 8th Community Engagement Concert at 7 p.m. at Wilkinsburg High School, 747 Wallace Ave., Wilkinsburg. The concert will feature the works of Johannes Brahms, Pablo De Saraste, Jules Massenet, Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Bedrick Smetana and violinist Gareth Johnson. Tickets are $3-$7. Bilal

Savvy Marketing and Urban Kontent Brand presents Bilal Live from 8-10 p.m. at the Shadow Lounge, 5972 Baum Blvd., East Liberty. Bilal is a classical trained vocalist who has performed and collaborated with some of the top artists. Along with Bilal will be DJ Vex, Gene Stovall and Tiara Wiles. Lou Donaldson

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s JazzLive Series presents Lou Donaldson and his Quartet at 7:30 p.m. at the Cabaret Theater, 655 Penn Ave., Cultural District. Donaldson is a jazz legend and has played with numerous all-star jazz musicians. This is a rare live engagement.
