On Aug. 31, a private home located at 7127 Vassar St., Pittsburgh, next door to Bethel Church of God In Christ. caught fire. The result of this three- alarm fire caused devastating damage to the church. The Pittsburgh Fire Department condemned the adjacent building where the fire originated but did not condemn the church property or building.

As a result of the fire the Bethel church family is facing the responsibility of repairing the major damages and replacement of church properties and contents that were lost or damaged in the fire. The estimated loss exceeds $150,000 in repairs and replacements and is not covered by insurance.

“We are a small, but faithful God-fearing congregation located in the Lincoln-Lemington area of Pittsburgh, doing our best to represent Jesus in this community.,” stated a  release from the church and its pastor, Elder George S. Christopher.

“We are asking that you respond to our situation, by first of all prayer, and then by opening your hearts to extend to us your financial assistance, as we move forth to restore our place of worship.”

The church motto is “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity”

Send any contributions to Bethel COGIC Fire Trust, Dollar Bank, P.O. Box 59056, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15210.
