For New Pittsburgh Courier
This week I visited the Sanders Family Reunion in Penn Hills, Umoja’s African Arts in the Park at Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side, CJ’s in the Strip District, Herbie Hancock at Heinz Hall and Jenesis Magazine at the Shadow Lounge in East Liberty.
My first stop was at CJ’s in the Strip District where DJ Nick Nice was on the 1’s and 2’s playing all the hits for the crowd.
Chilling at CJ’s in the Strip District.
My next stop was at the Shadow Lounge for the dual mix tape release party for The Sole Vibe’s “One To Grow On” and Jenesis Magazine’s “The Movement Vol. 2.” This event also featured performances by Mario & AV of the Sole Vibe, Nick Pratt, Franchise and Jon Quest.
My next stop was at the Sanders Family Reunion in Penn Hills where everyone came together, played games and ate plenty of good food. I have to shout out my family members, Gloria, Chuck, Chandra, Charlene and everyone that came out.
|Thomas Agnew of Jenesis Magazine at the Shadow Lounge at the mix tape CD release for Sole Vibe and Jenesis Magazine. I hope you enjoyed your birthday.
My next stop was at Umoja’s African Arts in the Park at Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side, which featured national recording artist Dru Hill and local artists from Pittsburgh. Sisqo paid tribute to the King of Pop Michael Jackson and Dru Hill gave the crowd a great performance.
My final destination was at Heinz Hall where the legendary Herbie Hancock performed for his fans. If you missed this show, you really missed out because Herbie did his thing. You must go cop his latest CD called “The Imagine Project.” It has a lot of great new music for you to enjoy.
