Memorial gathering

AUG. 26—The PROMISE Group will host the Jehru M. Donaldson Memorial Gathering for Lost Ones from 12-6 p.m. at West Park, North Shore. This is an event to remember lost loved ones. For more information, call Tonya at 412-452-8594 or Jay at 412-321-1019.

Families united

AUG. 27—The Allegheny County Department of Human Services Office of Children, Youth and Families will host their 12th Annual Family United Celebration from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at Schenley Park Ice Skating Rink, Oakland. The theme is “Healthy Lives, Healthy Families” and is free and open to all families in Allegheny County. There will be music, pony rides, entertainment, obstacle courses and more. Community celebration

AUG. 28—The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh East Liberty branch will host a Community Celebration from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at 130 S. Whitfield St., East Liberty. The theme is “Celebrate a New Beginning.” There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by the doors opening to the new facility. Police training

SEPT. 1—The Citizen’s Police Academy will host the Pittsburgh Police Training Academy from 6-9 p.m. at 1395 Washington Blvd., East Liberty. Every Wednesday, for 15 weeks individuals will learn what is needed to become a police officer. All individuals must complete an application and give permission for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to conduct a background check. For more information, call 412-665-3600.

Class reunion

SEPT. 3—The Reunion Committee of the Fifth Avenue High School will host their All Classes Alumni Reunion at 6:30 p.m. at Epiphany Hall’s McDowell Hall, Washington Place, Lower Hill. There will be a ’70s-themed Meet & Greet, a dance Sept. 4 at the Holiday Inn in Oakland and a picnic Sept. 5 at Riverview Park. 21.
