The Daily Mirror and its sibling Daily Record in Scotland announced they are also going to distribute more than 2.5 million copies of the CD in their July 10 editions.

Guardian media critic  Roy Greenslade reported the album deal “is part of a multimedia collaboration with the singer that will see the Mirror and Record run a series of Prince-themed features. It includes his first British newspaper interview in more than 10 years and ticket giveaways to his European concerts.

Prince’s record label, Warner Bros., intends to also distribute the CD in the usual way. No U.S. release date has been set.

Prince has used a newspaper to release an album before. In 2007, he distributed “Planet Earth” through the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom, angering the nation’s retailers.
