Jazz jam

CJ’s Restaurant & Lounge presents “The Roger Humphries & RH Factor Jazz Jam Session” at 8 p.m. at 2901-2911 Penn Ave., Strip District. There will be live jazz and fun every Thursday night. Smooth jazz

Club Duo presents Smooth Jazz Friday’s Amazing March from 8 p.m.-2 a.m. at the Holiday Inn, 100 Lytton Ave., Oakland. Come and enjoy the extraordinary vocal range of special musical guest Sherena Wynn and band. DJ Sly Jock will be spinning the hits and Roland Ford and the Line Dance Crew will get the party started. Music series

The Kente Arts Alliance presents the Second Blues, Roots and Spirits Series at 8 p.m. at the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, 5941 Penn Ave., East Liberty. This Women’s History Month concert will feature jazz vocalist Vanessa Rubin and her Quartet. She will pay tribute to the great female singers, past, present and future. Book signing

Pelican Publishing Company presents the Book Signing of Stacey Harris’ book “The Diabetic Pastry Chef” from 2-4 p.m. at Borders Books and Music, 1775 N. Highland Ave., East Liberty. Using a number of substitution techniques to lower the carbohydrate and calorie counts in her recipes, pastry chef and diabetic Harris has transformed more than two hundred desserts into delicious, diabetic-friendly delights.
