Taizé service

JAN. 27—East Liberty Presbyterian Church, 116 S. Highland Ave., East Liberty, will host a Taizé service at 7 p.m. This hour-long service includes sung prayers, simple, beautiful music, a time of silence, spoken and silent prayers and opportunity for individual prayer and anointing. GUEST SPEAKER—The Hill House Neighborhood Arts and Martin Luther King Jr. Reading and Cultural Center sponsored a program celebrating the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr at Ebenezer Baptist Church in the Hill District Jan. 17. The theme of the celebration was “Where Do We Go From here? Persistence, With God’s Grace, Will Give You The Victory: A Celebration Of Our African-American Men.” The guest speaker was Henry L. Biggs, educator, Pittsburgh Public Schools. Bible study

JAN. 27—King of Kings Baptist Ministries, 5169 Broad St., Garfield, will host an Hour of Power Bible Study at 7:30 p.m. Every Wednesday individuals will be able to enjoy learning about the Lord and His Word. All are welcome. For more information, call 412-661-3550.

Singers symposium

JAN. 30—Church In The Round, Griffith St., Aliquippa, will host a Musicians & Singers Symposium from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be several classes and lunch, followed by an evening service at 6 p.m. There will be a performance by the symposium choir and the message will be delivered by Annette Carswell. Jones celebration

FEB. 6—The Church of the Holy Cross, 7507 Kelly St., Homewood, will host the Rev. Absalom Jones Day of Celebration at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Jones was the first African-American priest to be ordained in the Episcopal Church. The preacher will be Rev. John C. Awareness concert

FEB. 7—The Pittsburgh AIDS Task Force will host a concert in Observance of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day from 4-6 p.m. at Pentecostal Temple COGIC, 6300 East Liberty Blvd., East Liberty. Special guests include the Pittsburgh Gospel Choir, which performed at the G-20 Summit; the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Mass Choir; and the All Nations Dance Company. Revival

FEB. 18—St. Mark AMEZ Church, 807 Ross Ave., Wilkinsburg, will host a Revival at 7 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Richard C. Chapple Jr. of First AMEZ Church in Los Angeles. The revival will lead up to the celebration of the First Pastoral Anniversary of Rev. Lamar D. Lee Jr. and First Lady Vada. The revival will run through Feb. 19.
